Goldies
Goldies+ is a collection of roughly 42 classic American popular songs rehearsal recordings. The collection spans songs from 1894 to 1939 — a golden age of American popular music — including beloved standards such as Bye Bye Blackbird (1926), Always (1925), As Time Goes By (1931), Anything Goes (1934), Cheek to Cheek (1935), Ain't Misbehavin' (1929), The Way You Look Tonight (1936), It's Only a Paper Moon (1932), Blue Skies (1926), and I'll See You In My Dreams (1924), among many others. The two collections, Goldies was recorded during Covid and is a bit more polished; Goldies on Ukuleles was recorded during winter 2025-26. Both collections are rooted in deep affection for the era and the people whose lives these songs soundtracked.
BACKGROUND: One of my first jobs using a piano was to hold classes in nursing homes and convalescent hospitals where I would play singalong songs which we also used as a catalyst to discuss the elderly resident's earlier years. Popular songs became a common ground that people shared and that in turn helped to open up discussions and relatable personal stories. I learned a lot from the residents about meaningful living and loving, enjoying and enduring life at all stages and ages and I came to love and cherish many of the songs that filled the soundtracks of their lives.
